About the Client
Our client is a leading North American automotive OEM operating high-volume assembly facilities and building advanced vehicle platforms to meet growing consumer demand.
In a high-volume assembly plant, a vehicle that leaves the line with a fault moves to a vehicle repair area before it can be released for shipment. When repair volume grows faster than repair capacity, finished vehicles wait in that area, and every unit waiting there is a unit the plant cannot count toward sales.
Challenge
In late Q4 2024, the plant faced an urgent spike in repair volume, driven by a projected increase in end-of-year sales. More vehicles were being built to meet that demand, and more of them needed vehicle repair before release.
The timing left almost no room. The plant had a three-week window leading into New Year’s to get those units repaired and moving. Any delay risked slowing Q4 sales output and shrinking the inventory available for the transition into the 2025 model year.
The plant needed production-ready vehicle repair support that could start working on a live repair operation right away, handle faults across electrical, mechanical and software systems, and keep pace with release schedules through the end of the year.
Solution
MS Companies deployed a team of highly trained vehicle repair specialists to speed up repairs, strengthen repair methods and expedite vehicle release.
Repair triage and prioritization
- Specialists assessed incoming units and put urgent and high-value repairs first, so the vehicles that mattered most to the release schedule moved through repair first.
Electrical, mechanical and software diagnostics
- The team diagnosed complex faults across vehicle systems, including ABS system faults, coolant system failures and autonomous hardware configuration needs.
Wiring harness and connector repair
- Specialists repaired and replaced damaged wiring, connectors and assemblies, sourcing OEM connectors and rebuilding wiring harnesses to restore system integrity.
Fault clearing and software configuration
- The team cleared static, gate and module faults and confirmed proper software configuration, returning each unit to full operating condition before release.
Documented methods validated with client teams
- Repair methods were standardized and documented to keep them repeatable and aligned with MS Companies best practices and client engineering protocols. Specialists worked directly with client engineering and union teams to source parts, validate work and accelerate vehicle release.
